What have you been suffering from?

Constipation (ongoing, severe, since childhood) Has always been an issues for me.
There is a family history of bowel issues, including cancer, so I have been on the bowel screening/ regular colonoscopy regime for some years, including "super" bowel prep (!!!), so slowness of bowel activity is noted, but no real diagnosis.

How long have you been doing enemas for?

Over 60 years, since my mother switched from suppositories to enemas.

What is your routine?

Alternate days enema for elimination.

About twice a week coffee enemas. About weekly inflammation implant.

What improvements and benefits have you experienced?

No longer cramping, bloating or gas. No longer painful, prolonged straining on the toilet, with resulting painful bottom. No longer anxiety. No longer stress about whether to take laxative, and if so, the stress about whether a desperate urge will happen when with a trolley well loaded in the supermarket...
An enema is so predictable and a simple thing to fit into a day.

What types of enemas have you been doing?

I am now settled into:
1. Alternate days filtered water with several teaspoons of Carb Soda and a few drops of Dr Bonner's liquid soap. (An American friend recommended the additives - making the enema much easier to hold with no cramping.
2. About twice a week coffee enema, which I can usually relax and hold for 30 - 60 minutes. Bliss!
3. Once a week inflammation implant at bedtime and left overnight.

Tell us a little about your overall experience.

I began being given an enema for constipation before puberty as a boost to the suppositories I was being given. This involved the enema syringe with the bulb in the centre of the hose. A struggle if doing the enema alone! The new Bum Bag is just right - long hose so it can be hung conveniently (how many homes are designed around enemas?), soft nozzles, easy to clean. Ditto for the Bum Bulb.

Plus, for someone living alone, the really great advantage of a community where no one is embarrassed or ashamed. So lovely.
