The Cancer Warrior: My Personal Journey of Resilience and Healing

May 30, 2025Kyah Seary

In the summer of 2023, I was diagnosed with stage three Thyroid Cancer. While devastating, I thought I was just going to go in, have surgery, get Radioactive Iodine treatment, and get on with my life. After all, people say it’s the “best cancer you can get” because it’s so treatable.

Here’s the thing. No matter the cancer, it’s still devastating and hard, and it changes your whole life.

Due to delays in surgery, I began questioning everything.

“Why did I get sick?”

A close friend who had Lyme disease opened my eyes to holistic healing, specifically coffee enemas.

At first, I wasn’t a fan of the idea. It seemed dangerous. But after a Dutch test from a naturopath revealed that my liver was highly toxic and I was on the verge of DNA damage that could possibly lead to a secondary cancer, I decided to give them a try.

I urgently needed to boost my glutathione levels, a powerful antioxidant, that coffee enemas could help stimulate.

The first time I did a coffee enema, I could physically feel my body getting lighter, I didn’t realize how terrible I was feeling until I felt better.

Instantly hooked, I incorporated them into my daily routine.

I finally underwent surgery and radioactive iodine treatment while also working with an acupuncturist focused on detoxing lingering anesthesia.

But when the radioactive iodine treatment didn’t work, I was left feeling hopeless.

As it turns out, this happens to only 2% of the population and even my oncologist didn’t know what to do.

He suggested I go on a TKI drug for the rest of my life, which I would have to keep switching because they’ll eventually stop working. The second option was to do another surgery with traditional radiation, but this would end up putting me at risk for another cancer down the road.

Neither of these sounded like good options to me. I was feeling so much better from starting the coffee enemas, so I kept researching and this led me to Hope 4 Cancer, a holistic treatment center.

Coffee enemas were a staple in their detoxification protocol and when I arrived I explained that I had already been doing them. They tested my liver markers and told me that I was doing great and my liver was completely healthy!

This gave me the hope I needed.

They put me on a year-long at home protocol that involved coffee enemas and a bunch of other holistic treatments.

Three months later, I went in for my checkup with my regular oncologist and he was incredibly offended and upset that I took my health into my own hands and pursued alternative treatment.

He ordered another PET scan, and did more blood work to check on the tumor markers.

On my next appointment, I was so nervous about the oncologist’s reaction that I took my husband with me for support.

But guess what?

There was no cancerous activity on the PET scan.

Nothing! And my tumor markers were dropping.

The more I supported my own body, the more they went down.

So I started sharing my story on Instagram, reaching people unaware of holistic healing options. Just like I was when I was diagnosed.

Reflecting on my journey, I recognize how unresolved emotional trauma and chronic stress contributed to my illness.

There were so many warning signs.

Now, I am an advocate for integrative healing grounded in faith and purpose.

I knew I had an important story to share. I wanted people to know that there were other options to support the body. While chemotherapy and radiation is often needed, it’s also so important to detox your body while you’re going through it because your body just gets overloaded.

My journey also led me down the path of going to Integrative Health Practitioner School and I’m now a certified IHP and I’ve just launched my new book, The Cancer Warrior Method: A Hope-Filled, 7 Step Guide toward  Self- Healing with Integrative Tools and Fierce Faith.

I distill principles from Hope 4 Cancer, Dr. Stephen Cabral, and other holistic protocols that I follow, offering practical steps and spiritual encouragement for beginners.

I’m so excited by the Happy Bum Products and what the company does. I love the education they provide and the clean products. I feel like we’re on the same mission to get the word out there.

My mission is to empower others with hope

Thank you for sharing my story.
